Check Out the Library
Teach Library Etiquette... visit the library and improve reading achievement. Introduce the library to beginning readers. Read more books. Learn new words. Create a bulletin board.  This teaching resource includes pages to improve reading skills and learn all about the library. The pages adapt easily to differentiated instruction as this resource includes introduction pages, easy pages, just right and challenging pages. Choose the pages that are best for your students.

Research consistently shows that when children have access to good libraries with plenty of good books and with adequate support and direction, they read more and thus do better in reading.

This resource will allow you to individualize instruction within your library lesson. This will provide each student with the challenge or support they need on their learning journey.   Some phonics, decoding and word work is also included.

Role model library etiquette on your visit to the library.

  • using a quiet voice
  • being considerate of others studying or reading
  • showing respect and responsibility for handling books
  • waiting quietly at check out
  • whispering when talking

The library can become a favorite destination and a good resource for supporting reading once your students learn the rules.  Find this teaching resource HERE
