Letter-Sound Match Task Cards

Learning the alphabet and recognizing letters for preschool and kindergarten children.

There are 95 cards with bright, bold, and colorful clip art. Task cards for early literacy instruction allow children to learn the letters of the alphabet and their sounds.

Children will also learn to recognize letters, match sounds, and identify objects that begin with the sounds.   Practice for writing letters can also be very easily adapted to these task cards. Uppercase and lowercase alphabet letters are included. Task cards are in random alphabet order to confirm and hear the sounds of each letter; however, there is also a set of alphabet cards in ABC order. This resource includes 95 task cards to invite early literacy learners to recognize the letters and sounds of the alphabet.

Task cards are in sets of 4 -

1. the first card shows uppercase letters

2. the second card shows lowercase letters

3. the third card shows traceable letters

4. the fourth card shows no letters

You could easily laminate these cards, and when ready, children can practice writing their letters with an expo writer right on the card. Letter tiles are great to use with these cards, but letter squares that you can print and laminate with the letter-sound-match alphabet cards are also included. You can easily use these task cards over and over, and if children are ready, they can be used independently in a literacy center.
